DAY 15: A SONG THAT DESCRIBES YOU...

This one was tough, I've been stumped for days, but the other night I was watching re-runs of the Wonder Years and "in my life" came on and struck a nerve. I'm pretty sure everyone can relate to this song... it is universal. But I'm of the sentimental kind, I often think back over my somewhat short twenty seven years thus far upon the earth, and there are "places I remember" but what I mostly reflect upon or reminisce about, are the people. I guess I've always been able to love people, a lot. It has been both my strength and my weakness. There are those people who've been easy to love, some more complicated, people with problems, the wrong people, the right people, people I've lost, people I miss, people who've changed, funny people, people I've hurt, people I've forgiven, people I've never met but have always been there (like my grandpa White that died two weeks before I was born), people that have known me for as long as I've lived, people who make me better, people who I pray I'll be stuck with forever...
"In my life, I've loved them all"
this post is sappy I know, but sincere.

How about you?

  1. Thanks for sharing this one. It's one of my favorites. I listened to the whole thing from your blog, just turned it up and sang along. :)

  2. "Do You Believe In Magic" by the Lovin' Spoonful. The lyrics tell all:

Do you believe in magic in a young girl’s heart?
How the music can free her, whenever it starts
And it’s magic, if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie
I’ll tell you about the magic, and it’ll free your soul
But it’s like trying to tell a stranger ‘bout rock and roll

  3. SURVIVOR-DESTINYS CHILD

that came to mind for some reason. But the message of forgiveness they threw in towards the end "wishing you the best, pray that you are blessed, nothing less, success and perfect happiness- I'M BETTER THAN THAT!-" has always struck a chord with my heart. I am truly learning to COUNT IT ALL JOY and to surrender everything to the LORD including the anger and fears that promote ill thoughts towards others. I truly am better than that because greater is HE who lives in me than the evil one who lives in this world seeking to devour whoever HE MAY. I am a survivor and in Christ I will not give up seeking His will over my life and His generous mercy. praise HIM always :). Especially when you want to curse the world around you and the people in it!

  5. I was also stumped on this one. How can I describe myself? I asked my wife whom I've been married to for many years to give me a song that describes me. She said the same song I have always sung to you over the years. "Have I Told You Lately" by Rod Stewart. Maybe that's why I love her so much!

  6. Wowsers, Brooke, we do have the same taste in music, I find this more and more. "In My Life", is one of my favorite songs of the Beatles. It was also the theme song for a favorite TV show of mine "Providence".

However, my choice is Martina McBride's "In My Daughter's Eyes" -I am a mother of two incredible, wonderful daughters. It is a beautiful song about the joy & importance of being a mother. Precious.

  7. I remember this song from a couple of episodes of The Wonder Years. They played it once at the end of the one in which they torn down the woods where Winnie & Kev first kissed, and again during the closing montage of a touching retrospective episode later on in the series(both were the Judy Collins cover). The song had the same effect on me as it did you.

  8. "...people that have known me for as long as I've lived, people who make me better, people who I pray I'll be stuck with forever..."

Did you just start writing a song there?
